Hey, Let's Play!

At our new place, landlady/roommate Suzanne has some animals, among them three heavily pregnant mini horse mares. On May 17th a mare called Tango gave birth to this little filly we decided to call 'Salsa'.

One week old, Salsa has some time in the side yard and gets to know some of the neighborhood kids. I think she likes that they're her size and she's much more bold to approach them than she is for adults.

Here she's ever so curious about what this little boy was doing and showed no hesitation coming in for a close inspection. Her approach startled him and he tried to step back but tripped. You can see she's wondering what he's doing and wants to play, but he got intimidated and a few seconds later started crying.

I feel there's a special bond between children and animals, especially baby animals.
